SENSE OF SELF
Lover, you should’ve come over (x3)
Lover, don’t let me down (x3)
Within the realm of my artistic endeavors, a pervasive theme emerges—namely, the intricacies of inner thought and emotion. My journey unfolds as an exploration of identity, interwoven with spirituality, symbolism, a vivid palette of colors, and an intimate communion with the nurturing embrace of mother nature. My artistic expression is steeped in the profound, relying heavily upon intuitive mark making, the transformative act of painting, and an evolving process that ebbs and flows in harmony with the themes I seek to encapsulate within each intricate creation.
My artistic evolution transpired as intuitive works metamorphosed into a deeply emotive series. This poignant progression grapples with profound themes of grief and growth, brought forth through a profound interplay of imagery capturing skeletal poses and laden with spiritual symbolism. Intertwined with this visual narrative is the judicious use of text, amplifying the emotional resonance and enriching the narrative tapestry.
In my artistic journey, each artwork is bestowed with a title akin to an evocative melody, meticulously chosen to encapsulate the messages I endeavor to convey. For instance, "Lover, you should've come over (x3)" draws inspiration from Jeff Buckley's eponymous song, a heartfelt composition within his revered album 'Grace.' Similarly, "Lover don't let me down (x3)" finds its muse in Palace's resonant song of the same title. The lyrical verses that grace these paintings are delicately woven into the very fabric of the artwork, an homage to the emotional tenor of these musical counterparts.
These works echo a profound sentiment—one of grappling with the agonizing duality of love, the tender sting of heartache that paradoxically fuels personal growth. Embedded within the poignant chords of these titles and lyrics is the central theme of growth, an ever-present motif that reverberates through the core of my artistic expression. It is the crucible in which raw emotions meld and shape into transformative experiences, ultimately becoming a poignant testament to the human journey.
